National Pins And Needles Day is celebrated on November 27 of every year. The real origin of this day is forgotten like many other holidays. This day was started in 1937 to honor the opening of the pro-Labor musical play Pins and Needles on Broadway. But over decades of time, the original meaning of this day has been forgotten by people, and nowadays, many people view this day as a signal of nervousness to do stitching work or perhaps that crazy feeling you get when your foot goes to sleep.
History of National Pins And Needles Day
National Pins And Needles Day’s origin dates back to the 1930s during the labor movement. The pro-Labor musical play opened on 27 November 1937 at the Labor Stage Theater in New York City. Harold Rome wrote the Broadway play, which was produced by the International Ladies Garment Workers Union and was once one of the largest labor unions in the USA. The play told the story of a category of workers doing a job during the American Labor movement, and the Union members made up the cast. The play was a super hit and ran for about 1108 performances. The actors of the play left their day jobs as garment workers to run a full schedule of shows. The play first rocked the stage from 1937 to 1940 and appeared again in 1978. Recently it appeared on London stages in 2010.
