National Read A Road Map Day is observed every April 5. Roadmaps basically show the roads and boundaries of the countries; also they give information about the famous buildings, tourist sites, parks, recreational facilities, hotels and restaurants, airports, train and petrol stations. Road maps are fun to use and never fail you even when your phone battery goes down or when there is no coverage. With the increase in the use of GPS navigation and other electronic maps in this century, printed maps are in diminishing. On this day one must spend some time learning to read a roadmap, and if possible they can plan a short road trip using the road maps like the old times.
“All you need is the plan, the road map, and the courage to press on to your destination.” – Earl Nightingale
History of National Read A Road Map Day
The origin of National Read A Road Map Day is not yet found. This day must be created with the intention to teach people to use road maps. Many people of this generation had never used a paper road map before, as they grew up using the GPS and various other navigation systems. So this day is an opportunity to educate yourself with the traditional paper GPS.

How to Celebrate the Day
As the day suggests, celebrate the day by learning about roadmaps. It is a day to encourage people to go on a small adventurous trip using only the old maps, strictly without any electronic gadgets. On this day take some time to make yourself familiar with the road map. If you are already familiar with using road maps, then do the honor of teaching someone to read a map. The important part of learning the roadmap is knowing the directions, i.e. west, east, north, or south. Learn more information about maps and how they are made and share them on social media by using the hashtag #ReadARoadMapDay.
