Rapture Party Day is celebrated on May 21 of every year. You may remember that Harold Camping, president of Family Radio predicted that May 21 of 2011 would be the end of the world. On that evening, many non-believers – both Christian and non-Christian alike – celebrated what they felt was a misguided prediction by conducting rapture parties around the world.
History of Rapture Party Day
The history of Rapture Party Day is associated with the man named Harold Camping who predicted Jesus Christ’s return and May 21 of 2011 would be the rapture of all faithful Christians. He made this prediction in 2001, and it caused a flurry of his followers to prepare for their final days on planet Earth. Because of that prediction, the followers of camping started to sell off their possessions. Some of them lived in fear and went on “soul-winning campaigns.” Camping also predicted that God’s final judgment would take place five months after Rapture Day in October 2011. He claimed the five months between May to October should be a period for destruction. And when the Rapture failed to occur on May 21st, 2011, his predictions become a worldwide joke, and he was accused of wanting to make money off of his frightened followers.
