International Day of Radiology (IDOR) is commemorated on November 8 every year. This annual event is celebrated to highlight the important role of medical imaging in modern healthcare. Radiology Day is observed with events in many countries, organized by national professional societies representing radiologists.
Radiology is a medical technique that uses imaging to diagnose and treat diseases within the body. Some common imaging techniques include computed tomography (CT), X-ray radiography, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and ultrasound. Interventional radiology involves performing medical procedures guided by imaging technologies.
Radiology Day is an ideal occasion to raise public awareness about the significance and benefits of radiology.

History of International Day of Radiology
Radiology Day is a successor to the European Day of Radiology, which was created in 2011. It was first celebrated on February 10, 2011, to honor the anniversary of Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen’s death, the inventor of X-rays (also known as Roentgen rays). The European Society of Radiology (ESR) created the European Day of Radiology, and later, in collaboration with the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) and the American College of Radiology (ACR), they established Radiology Day.
The theme of the International Day of Radiology 2012 was “Medical Imaging in Oncology.” Last year, nearly 150 radiology-related professional societies worldwide celebrated the day, with participating organizations organizing various events to commemorate it. Radiology Day, or International Day of Radiology, aims to raise public awareness of radiology and its benefits.
