History of National Pralines Day
The creator, reason for creation, and origin of National Praline Day are unknown. However, praline itself has a rich history. In the early 17th century, a French sugar industrialist, Marshal du Plessis-Praslin, created this European praline at the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte. The original praline was made with whole almonds coated with caramelized sugar. At this time, chocolates were not discovered. When chocolates were discovered, an ingredient named praline was added to them. Technically, when grounded nuts are added to chocolate, they become pralines. Then, it reached Belgium, where pralines had a rich chocolate center that was more liquid than solid.
