National Water a Flower Day is celebrated on May 30 of every year. This day is a yearly reminder to show our flowers how much we appreciate them for their beautiful colors, fragrant blossoms, and medicinal, and lethal properties.
“The more often we see the things around us – even the beautiful and wonderful things – the more they become invisible to us. That is why we often take for granted the beauty of this world: the flowers, the trees, the birds, the clouds – even those we love. Because we see things so often, we see them less and less.” – Joseph B. Wirthlin
History of National Water a Flower Day
The inventor or creator of National Water a Flower Day is still unknown. The Flower is the reproductive part of a plant that produces seeds. Plants that produce flowers and fruit are called angiosperms. There are nearly 300,000 species of angiosperms, and their flowers and fruits may vary significantly. Fruits and flowers are among the most useful features for identifying plant species. Many modern cultures recognize flowers as attractive, and scholars have been fascinated with flowers for nearly thousands of years. Dioscorides, the first-century physician of Greek, wrote the most influential early book on plants, De materia medica. It was the first text about the medicinal uses of plants, and it contained many diagrams of plants and their flowers. The book helped other physicians to identify the kinds of plants to prescribe to their patients for a particular sickness. De materia medica remained an essential reference in botany (the study of plants) for more than 1,500 years. Hence National Water a Flower Day gives us an opportunity to care for our gardens.

How to Celebrate the day
Celebrate the National Water a Flower Day by watering the Flower with the help of a watering pot or watering can. If you have not owned such things, just use the bottle or cooking pot, or a mug. You could also take shorter plants or flowers directly to the sink and water them with tap water. The only important thing on that day is to take care of your flowers and tell everyone about the Day, who owns flowers. You can take pictures of your favorite Flower and share them with others on social media by using the hashtag #WateraFlowerDay.
