“Creativity is the key to success in the future, and primary education is where teachers can bring creativity in children at that level.” – A. P. J. Abdul Kalam
History of National Play-Doh Day
The history and origin of the National Play-Doh Day are anonymous. However, Play-Doh has a long history. Joe McVicker had invented the Play-Doh. Play-Doh is one among many common products that were invented by accident. After the 1950s, it was marketed as a toy and was awarded U.S. Patent in the year 1965. Rainbow Crafts, a toy manufacturing firm, had marketed and sold the Play-Doh at the Woodward & Lothrop department store in Washington D.C. for the first time. Play-Doh had initially included vibrant colors like red, blue, yellow, and white. Play-Doh had been originally developed as a product for cleaning wallpaper in the 1930s, and it was not a toy.
It was Joe’s sister, who was a kindergarten teacher, who made her students use it as a molding compound for art projects as the clay was too hard and messy. Since then, it has entertained millions of children and let them express their creativity. Play-Doh was primarily made with a mixture of water, salt, and wheat flour. However, the other compounds used for its manufacturing are kept a secret. There are lots of Play-Doh tools available now which make you make different shapes. Play-Doh is a non-toxic modeling clay compound that is currently available in more than 50 colors. Since 1965, more than two billion Play-Doh can have been sold.
