The National Escargot Day’s history and origin are unknown. There isn’t any record found about the creator and its first observance anywhere. However, National Escargot Day is meant to be the celebration of snails which turns out to be delicious escargot. It is a tasty appetizer or starter that is prepared with land snails cooked in butter or wine. In France, Spain, and Portugal, escargot is the usual type of starter. It is thought that the escargot is found to be originated from the Ancient Roman and is usually associated with French cuisine.
The snails will be purged, killed, and removed from their shells in order to cook them. After its cooking process, it will be placed back into its shells with the butter and sauce for serving. The term Escargot is a French word for edible snails and it is even applied to the living snails that are eaten commonly. The edible varieties of snails are high in protein and low in fat. A record states that the escargots had represented a $300-million-a-year business in the United States in the late 1980s.
