Tropical regions are famous for tropical plants and tropical forests. Of the whole Earth’s landmass, 36% comprises Tropics. This tropic includes the Equator region and parts of North & South America, Africa, Asia, and Australia. This region is warm all year round with lots of sun and the temperature in the Tropics ranges from 77 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit. Apart from the Summer season, it has two seasons: Wet Season and Dry Season. The world’s economy is based on the Tropics and lots of things like food, object, and many more that we used in our daily life comes from the Tropics. So it is important to preserve the tropics and that is why International Day of the Tropics is celebrated.
History of International Day of the Tropics
The UN General Assembly approved a resolution that declared June 29th as the International Day of the Tropics on June 14, 2016. The United Nation decided on the date June 29th to mark the anniversary of the inaugural “State of Tropics Report.” The statement was launched by Nobel Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi from Myanmar (Formerly Burma) in 2014.
