International Anti-Corruption Day is celebrated on December 9 of every year. Corruption is the biggest social crime that happens in both developed and undeveloped countries. It affects the political, social, and economic development of the entire country. But the poorest people become the primary victims of corruption. As of now the most corrupted countries in the world are North Korea, Afghanistan, Somalia, Iraq, and Haiti. The day will bring major awareness to the people about that issue and unite the people to fight against that problem.
“Fighting Corruption is not just good governance. It’s self-defence and patriotism.” – Joe Biden
History of International Anti-Corruption Day
International Anti-corruption Day was first started on December 9 2003 by the General Assembly of the United Nations as a way to fight against corruption and to improve awareness to the people about corruption. The official reason for creating International Anti-Corruption Day was concerned about threads set up by corruption to the stability and security of society, the value of democracy, ethical values, justice, and the rule of law. Since the day was first held, the United Nations Development Program and the united nations office on Drugs and crime have said that the intolerance towards corruption has overgrown. It is proven by the increased number of politicians and chief executives who are convicted and tried for the crime.

How to Observe International Anti-Corruption Day
In many ways, the government, non-governmental organizations, and private businesses are involved in creating organizational activities to report incidents of corruption. You can help those who are affected by crime effectively by donating some money to the charity that takes care of those affected people. There are plenty of organizations that are available to sponsor an abandoned Somalian child. If you decide to celebrate this day, you make sure that you have done a little bit better than this process. Post pictures and share your thoughts on social media about Anti-Corruption by using the hashtag #AntiCorruptionDay.
