Statehood Day
Statehood Day is a public holiday in the particular state of India. Himachal Pradesh celebrates its statehood day on 25 January. It was on this day in 1971 that Himachal Pradesh became the 18th state of the country. Himachal Pradesh is a state in North India, bordering Tibet, it is noted for its Himalayan landscapes. It is a popular tourist destination for trekking and enjoying the natural beauty. It also stands fourth in the highest per capita income and the third fastest growing economy in India. On 18 December 1970 the State of Himachal Pradesh Act was passed by Parliament, and the new state came into the act on 25 January 1971 making it a separate state of India. Y.S. Parmar became the first chief minister of the state. On this day different functions and activities will be held to felicitate excellence in the various field. The government will organize programs and state’s achievements are put forth to inspire people to do better.
