March is the third month of the Julian Calendar and Gregorian Calendar, and it is the second month to have 31 days after January. The word “March” is named after the Roman God of War “Mars.” Initially, March was the first month of the year in the Roman Calendar as it is associated with the first day of spring. The third month of the year also marks the time when the war will resume after the long winter months. Even though January 1 is celebrated as New Year’s Day, still several cultures and religions around the world celebrate the first day of the march as the New Year.
During the regular years, the first day of March month starts on the same day as February and November. It ends on the same day as June in regular years. Daffodil is the birth flower for March, whereas aquamarine and bloodstone are the birthstones for March. The birthstone symbolizes courage. Every day in March is attached to some special celebrations, holidays, festivals, and special observations. The important holidays, national days, and international days observed on every day of March 2024 are listed above.
