World Hello Day is commemorated on November 21 of every year. It is a non-religious unofficial holiday celebrated globally every year. It is created to make everyone understand that all the issues and problems should be resolved through communication and not through the use of force. Participants of this day usually greet ten people or more than that on the day as an utterance of the significance of personal communication in maintaining world peace.
“A simple Hello could lead to a million things“
History of World Hello Day
World Hello Day was started in the year 1973 as a response to the Yom Kippur War to promote world peace through personal communication. The main aim of World Hello Day is to say hello to at least 10 people on the day. The message is mainly for all the leaders around the world to use communication to solve any conflicts instead of force. This day was created by Brian McCormack, a Ph.D. graduate of Arizona State University, and Michael McCormack, a graduate of Harvard University in the year 1973 in direct response to the Yom Kippur War in which thousands of people and soldiers were killed. These two brothers in 7 languages mailed about 1,360 letters to various government leaders around the world to encourage them to participate in the first World Hello Day. From that time this day has been celebrated in 180 countries. Any person around the world can participate in this day by just greeting at least 10 people or more. This day was started in response to the issue between Egypt and Israel in October 1973. In its 1st year, this day got the support of about 15 countries. 31 winners of the Nobel Peace Prize are among the people who support this day and they stated that this day carries important value in preserving world peace. Other supporters of this day include around a hundred authors, world leaders, and entertainers. People across the world use this day as an opportunity to express their support for world peace.
