National Get Over It Day is celebrated on March 9th of every year. National Get Over It Day expects you to do what the name means. It can be anything, starting from worrying about things that were lost to getting over through a breakup. Getting over means not letting the past ruin your life and stopping yourself from living in the bitter past and sticking with the current. On this day resolve not to concern yourself with something that’s already happened and move on to more productive pursuits. It is an important day to be celebrated as most of the people living need a day like this to make a small difference in their life.
“Someone I loved once gave me a box of darkness. It took me years to understand that this too, was a gift.” – Mary Oliver.
History of National Get Over It Day
Jeff Goldblatt in 2005 created the National Get Over It Day after having trouble getting over an ex-girlfriend. But he recognized it was a universal concept that many could relate to and he also wrote a poem on it which quickly went viral and has since been covered by Good Morning America, ESPN SportsCenter, and many other media outlets worldwide.

How to Celebrate the Day
It can be observed by doing things that will make you forget your bad past. You can hit the spa or go to the gym to relax and get a different perspective on life. Don’t stress yourself and do things that only make you happy. You can also make a list of things that get you angry or worried about. Go through it and adopt habits that would change your views on things that you used to fear about and let go of things that you can’t change. But maybe it is not as easy as it sounds. So make some serious effort to bring the changes. Resolve yourself not to spend any more energy and time on it. Take this day as an opportunity to reconnect with people who you have dropped out of your life. Make sure you take a small step to get over it and move forward as better days are just ahead. Post pictures and share your National Get Over It Day celebrations on social media by using the hashtag #GetOverItDay.
