National Eat What You Want Day is celebrated on May 11 of every year. The only rule on the day is to eat what you want, however you want it, and how much you want it. Some people spend their time stressing over their diet and whatever they should or shouldn’t eat, as today’s world is filled with magazine covers sporting perfectly toned, perfectly tanned models that regularly make us feel inadequate. Hence, National Eat What You Want Day is a day to ignore your diet and indulge in the foods that you love most.
“Acceptable food rots while we are chased from bins behind restaurants, chased from sleeping on the street, chased from relieving ourselves unless we pay for food or gas, until finally we are so hungry, sleepless, smelly, constipated and beaten-down that we simply die of lack of will to live.” – Jane Siberry
History of National Eat What You Want Day
Thomas and Ruth Roy of wellcat.com created the National Eat Whatever You Want Day to help people break away from the frustrating health and diet courses of our times, if for just one day, and just let go and enjoy life a little. Most nutritionists seem to agree that giving yourself a rest every now and again can be good for us and that forcing ourselves to eat only low-calorie and tasteless foods for prolonged periods of time is likely to cause us to suddenly gorge on everything in sight when our determinations wear off.

How to celebrate the day
Celebrating the National Eat What You Want Day is quite easy and very simple to remember. Just forget about all your diets and eat all the foods that love you most. Eat everything from ice cream to chocolate to cake and pie, and then some cookies on ice cream washed down with hot chocolate, and then some ice cream cake. Don’t forget to take pictures while eating and share them with others on social media by using the hashtag #EatWhatYouWantDay.
