Cow Appreciation Day is celebrated on the second Tuesday of every July. This year, the day falls on July 9. Cow Appreciation Day appreciates cows and their need for humans, encouraging people to eat more chicken over a cow. People on this day usually dress up like cows to get free food from restaurants. This day is also known as Free Chik-fil-A Day, which means it’s the time of the year to wear cow apparel and check in to your local Chick-fil-A restaurant. This day celebrates the Chick-fil-A restaurant’s 14th annual Cow Appreciation Day. There are more than 2,100 Chick-fil-A restaurant branches around the country, and these restaurants give away free entrees for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but only for those who come up dressed in cow attire.
“Cows are my passion. What I have ever sighed for has been to retreat to a Swiss farm, and live entirely surrounded by cows – and china.” – Charles Dickens.
History of Cow Appreciation Day
Cow Appreciation Day is believed to be created by Chik-Fil-A company to motivate people to eat more chickens than too from their restaurants. This day started to be celebrated in 2005. Chik-Fil-A company makes chicken-based food, and whereas people of America consume a large amount of beef, so this day was created to brainwash people to eat more chicken at their restaurant. Chick-fil-A is an American fast-food restaurant chain specializing in making chicken-based dishes. Chick-fil-A used the mad cow disease scare of January 1, 2004, as an opportunity to increase their sales by campaigning slogans to encourage people to eat chicken over cows. The health benefits of eating chicken were highlighted and marketed widely. This day saves cows to a large extent.
