National Chocolate Mint Day is celebrated on February 19 of every year. There is always something special about the combination of smooth, creamy, fresh, luxurious chocolate and refreshing, sharp mint. Chocolate Mint Day is celebrated to enjoy this incredible combination. Mint Chocolates are a great variety of flavored chocolate prepared by adding mint flavorings like peppermint and spearmint to plain chocolate. They are in different edible products like mints, candy, mint chocolate-chip ice cream, cookies, etc. Hence, National Chocolate Mint Day is a perfect day for all chocolate mint lovers to eat their favorite chocolate mint flavor all day long.
“Every cloud has it’s the silver lining, but it is sometimes a little tricky to get it to the mint.” – Don Marquis.
History of National Chocolate Mint Day
The US National Confectioners Association declared National Chocolate Mint Day. The chocolate was brought back to the Europeans when they weren’t fond of the dark, bitter bean and used mostly for medical purposes. When it was consumed as a hot beverage, Europeans added mint, cinnamon, and other products to make it more palatable. Over time, sugar was added, and the combination of chocolate and mint became favorable. In the mid-1800s, inventions and improvements made it easier for confectioners to manufacture chocolates in great quantities. Until the turn of the century, the advertisements for mint chocolates did not start. Depending on the ingredients used and the process used, Mint Chocolate can give you a very distinctive mint fragrance. The components can be milk chocolate, standard dark chocolate, or white chocolate. Because of this, Mint Chocolate has no distinct flavor, and each flavor can be unique.
