International Body Piercing Day is observed on the birthday of Jim Ward. He established the world’s first-ever piercing studio in California. However, this day was initiated by one of Ward’s friends as a way to remember his achievements in educating about various piercing techniques and formulation of safety standards within the industry. Modern people still use his teaching. Jim Ward is also called the father of modern piercing or the granddaddy of the current body piercing movement. He was also an influential person in the new body modification movement. He was popular for introducing the barbell piercing style to the US, which is the internal threading style.
