“I have noticed that the people who are late are often so much jollier than the people who have to wait for them” – E.V. Lucas.
History of National Be Late For Something Day
Procrastinators’ Club of America created the National Be Late For Something Day. In the year 1956, the Procrastinators’ Club of America was founded by Les Waas, soon after the club’s starting, the committee of the club announced September 5 as National Be Late For Something Day, an unofficial holiday. This day was created to encourage the active elements of procrastination. On this busy world, there are pressures put on us to be here and there at a fixed time, so most people think they are always watching the clock, and they don’t even have a chance to slow down, take a breath and adore the world around them. Waas says, ‘This day tries to ease that factor.’ So, on this day just relax and stop and smell the roses. It may be undoubtedly hard for some of us to be late as we are taught to be punctual at all times but today just take an excuse and be late for something.
