Administrative Professionals Day is observed in many workplaces around the world as a part of Administrative Professionals Week. Administrative Professionals Day is celebrated on Wednesday of last full week of every April. This year it falls on April 25. This day is also known as Secretaries’ Day or Admin Day. Administrative Professionals include secretaries, administrative assistants, receptionists, and other administrative support professionals. This day marks the significance of the roles played by administrative professionals in various sectors. A successful administrative officer’s main duties include managing office stock, preparing regular reports and organizing company records. The main obligation of an administrative officer is to ensure the smooth run of regulatory activities on a daily and long-term basis. Employees and supervisors of the organization often celebrate the day by organizing events as a way to show their gratitude and appreciation.

History of Administrative Professionals Day
In 1942, National Secretaries Association was founded to appreciate the administrative professionals of the organizations and also to attract more skilled personnel to the field. This day was created by Mary Barrett, C. King Woodbridge, Harry F. Klemfuss and Daren Ball. National Secretaries Week was first officially announced by U.S. Secretary of Commerce Charles W. Sawyer; this week was initially celebrated during the first week of June in 1952 with Wednesday observed as National Secretaries’ Day. In 1955, the observance week was moved to last full week of April with the Wednesday as Administrative Professionals’ Day. In 2000, the name of the week was changed to Administrative Professionals Week. The main aim of Administrative Professionals Day was to enclose the wide responsibilities and increasing job titles of the administrative officers. Although, the celebration is often criticized by many for various reasons.
