National Science Fiction Day is an annual feast celebrated on January 2nd of every year. Imaginative concepts have been emerging day by day in recent years and are recognized by several millions of people. Time travel, life on other planets, and other such fictional things are very well explained in many movies and literature books. To take advantage, science fiction is celebrated with a Day in a calendar. National Science Fiction Day is celebrated by many science fiction fans in the United States and even from all over the world. It is a Day that celebrates the birthdate of famed science fiction writer Isaac Asimov.
“Science fiction is any idea that occurs in the head and doesn’t exist yet, but soon will, and will change everything for everybody, and nothing will ever be the same again. As soon as you have an idea that changes some small part of the world you are writing science fiction. It is always the art of the possible, never the impossible.” – Ray Bradbury
History of National Science Fiction Day
The history, origin, founder, and year at which National Science Fiction Day was first celebrated are not mentioned clearly. However, this celebration Day falls on the official birthdate of Isaac Asimov, who was a famed science fiction writer. Science Fiction Day deals with a genre of literature that examines the effect of imaginary changes. Isaac Asinow, originally a biochemist, American author, and Boston University professor, was one of the most prolific writers of all time. He was best known for having written or edited more than 500 books and his works of science fiction (sci-fi) and popular science books. Asimov is one of the fathers of modern-day science fiction and is widely considered to be a master of hard science fiction.
He was a long-time member and vice president of Mensa International. He is credited with coining the word robotics in his 1941 story “Liar!” and for introducing the Three Laws of Robotics. Psychohistory was another term coined by him. Science fiction is likely to occur in the near or distant future, and it may be anything related to technological innovations, scientific discoveries, natural events, or disasters. It is neither a fantasy nor supernatural and not a magical thing. The Epic of Gilgamesh was the first recorded work of science fiction. At present, science fiction is found to be a well-read genre of literature and is more popular in movies and TV series.
