International Artist Day is an annual observance celebrated on October 25th each year. Creativity exists in every individual, and one must bring out their skills to showcase them to the world of innovation. It is this creativity that paves the way for expressing the artistic nature within a person. Art is a form of expression that allows humans to visually represent what they feel. International Artist Day celebrates those creative and innovative artists who work hard to capture the present for the future.
“The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place: from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider’s web.” – Pablo Picasso

History of International Artist Day
International Artist Day (IAD) has been celebrated since 2004 on the birthday of Pablo Picasso, the famous Spanish painter. Chris MacClure, a Canadian Romantic Realist artist from White Rock, BC, founded and served as the creative director of this day. His paintings express his “Romantic Realist” perspective on life, which is neither overly crafty nor painterly. The celebration of IAD aims to honor artists and their contributions to society. Chris MacClure has worked hard to become one of Canada’s most prominent artists and created IAD to bring recognition to the world of art, celebrating and honoring the unique ways that artists view life.
Artists worldwide work hard to create their artistic works, adding beauty to the world we live in. They work with various mediums, including painting, photography, sculpture, literature, music, dance, writing, acting, digital arts, and more. Over the years, IAD has steadily grown in popularity globally and has taken on a life of its own. Artists and their supporters everywhere celebrate IAD, promoting festivals and events to raise the visibility of art and artists in a wide range of genres. These events can include everything from painting to literature, music, digital arts, and everything in between, with the support of local and corporate sponsors.
