African World Heritage Day is a day to celebrate Africa. The day is even more special in Africa, the second-largest continent in the world. History of African World Heritage Day
This initiative was launched in 2006 to support the conservation and protection of Africa’s unique natural and cultural heritage. After the 38th session of the General conference in 2018, UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization) declared African World Heritage Day on the 5th of May each year. Since the declaration, the celebration has been continued every year. It is meant to be a day to celebrate the continent of Africa and its greatest cultural heritage.
