History of National Lipstick Day
National Lipstick Day has been celebrated for years even before any specific declaration. National Lipstick Day is said to be founded by beauty bloggers, entrepreneurs, and International businesswomen, and Huda Kattan in the year 2006. It was proclaimed from National Day Calendar’s Registrar. Few people claim the day to be created for Instagram where celebrities post pictures to mark the day. The history of lipstick dates back to the 13th century where the ancient Mayans, ancient Sumerians, aboriginal tribes in Australia, and even Cleopatra used various shades of lip color to highlight their beauty. Those days they were naturally made from crushed beetles to berries and oils were used to get desired shades. Lipstick made from carmine dye was the first kind of modern lipstick that was made in the 19th century. Till the early 20th century, lipsticks came only in few shades and were only worn by actresses and rich people. Slowly lipstick was evolved in many variations including lip balms, glosses, crayons, pencils, liners, and stains.
