World Wish Day is celebrated on April 29 of every year. World Wish Day honors the day when police ranted the wish of Chris Greicius to become a police officer at a young age. This day is also observed annually to recognize and thank all the medical professionals, donors, wish kids, sponsors, families, and volunteers of Make-A-Wish organizations around the world. The Make-A-Wish international organization is one of the most well-known children’s charity organizations in the world.
“May you live as long as you wish and love as long as you live.” – Robert A. Heinlein.
History of World Wish Day
It was the wish of a person living with Leukaemia, Chris Greicius who was just seven years old to become a police officer. When the police got to know about his wish, they thought to help him and granted his request. Young Chris Greicius was a police officer on April 29th, 1980 for one day. When others heard this news, they believed that granting wishes for children with illness was a great idea. This idea led to the founding of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Now there are about 48 countries around the world taking part in this Day. Various research on the Make-A-Wish concept shows that this idea helps sick children to fight against their illnesses. Granting wishes helps the sick kids to ignore their limitations, to overcome their worries, and enhance their quality of life. That means it helps the sick children in recovering.
