National Sweater Day is an annual commemoration celebrated on February 4th of every year. We very well know that there is one thing in the garment that protects and keeps us warm and hot throughout the winter season. It is none other than the sweaters that make people of all age groups, from the young and old, stay cozy and comfortable. National Sweater Day is celebrated to bring awareness about saving energy by switching off the heat and wearing sweaters. The Day indeed celebrates both the usefulness of sweaters and the consumption of energy.
“I like sweaters. I have a sweater obsession, I guess.” – Drake
History of National Sweater Day
National Sweater Day has been celebrated since 2010. World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Canada campaign, presented by Loblaw Companies Limited, has established this celebration Day. The Day has engaged over one million Canadians since then. WWF has aimed at making people turn down their heat and wear their sweaters in the name of energy conservation. Sweater Day is a fun way to learn about the importance of conserving energy, encouraging you to use less heat all winter. It is all about valuing energy by taking this Day as a chance to think differently about using power.
Sweaters are finely knitted garments and versatile items of clothing that can be worn on top of almost any outfit. Wear sweaters to help save renewable energy by changing the behaviors around energy consumption. Take this Sweater Day to lower the use of thermostats by just two degrees Celsius and help reduce the emission of greenhouse gases by about four megatons. Cozy up in your woolliest sweater to keep you warm in the chilly February. The Day is intended to create awareness in society by offering fun and straightforward alternatives to energy problems. Put on your lovely ethical sweaters to heat yourself and save energy on the other side.
