Thanksgiving Day is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November each year. This year, it will be observed on November 28. The day after Thanksgiving is known as Black Friday. Originally, Thanksgiving was a religious celebration meant to give thanks to God and commemorate the arrival of the first pilgrims in America.
Thanksgiving is a perfect occasion to express gratitude for the good and happy moments in life. It is a day of joy and celebration, often marked by family gatherings. In the United States, it is considered one of the most significant family celebrations and is typically observed at home with family members and friends.

History of Thanksgiving Day
The day has been celebrated annually since 1863 in the United States. However, not everyone views this day as a cause for celebration. Since 1970, some Native Americans have organized a protest, known as the Day of Grief, at Plymouth Rock in Plymouth, Massachusetts, on this day. American Indian Heritage Day is also celebrated around the same time.
There are claims that the first Thanksgiving was observed in 1598 in El Paso, Texas. Another earlier event took place in the Virginia Colony in 1619. Some people trace the origins of the present Thanksgiving to the harvest celebration held by the Pilgrims in 1621 in Plymouth, Massachusetts. However, their first real Thanksgiving was in 1623, when they offered thanks for rain that ended a drought. These early Thanksgivings took the form of a church service rather than a festival.
In the latter half of the 1600s, the day became more common, and people began to celebrate it annually. Thanksgiving was observed on different days in various communities, and there were often multiple Thanksgiving each year. The first president of the United States, George Washington, declared the first national Thanksgiving Day in 1789.
